Description: Very finely crafted gold earrings from the eastern Mediterranean, each with a soldered pendant in the shape of a pomegranate. The hollow-formed fruit is decorated with fine granules forming bands and floral elements. The sepals are depicted at the bottom. The upper part of the earring has a small opening for wearing. See for the type the earrings from the famous Maikop Treasure in southern Russia, now exhibited at the Penn Museum with the object number 30-33-7B. Ready to wear though it is recommended to have modern pins custom-made to avoid opening the ancient clasp.
