Condition: Polos missing, the face yet wonderfully preserved with a strong expression.

Description: Finely worked terracotta head of Demeter with thick curled hair parted in the centre. She wears a polos, where only the base is still preserved. The ears are pierced and possibly once wore separately worked earrings, gazing straight ahead between thick lids. The small mouth with thick, arched lips. The neck is strong and has two horizontal wrinkles. Vent hole on the back. Numerous white, red and violet color remains are still preserved. Probably from Sicily.
