Description: Very elegant vase of the so-called blacktop ware from the pre-dynastic period. The corpus ovoid and tapering towards the bottom, only the very end is flattened. The rim is slightly thickened. The clay was covered with a red iron oxide which developped the distinctive dark red color. The black rim, which continues inside, resulted from burning the vase, when the upper part was exoposed to the thick smoke.
