Description: Solid bronze statuette of a panther which was originally part of a Dionysus figure. The animal lifts its head and right foreleg to receive the remains of wine that dripped from a vessel in Dionysus' hand. The figure is still on its original plinth. The tail rests on the back, the eyes are notched in cold work. See a similar object in: ”Tierbilder aus vier Jahrtausenden – Antiken der Sammlung Mildenberg“, fig. 182. There the statuette is incorrectly described as a hunting dog.
