Description: Exceptionally finely crafted gold earrings from the height of the Roman Imperial period. At the center of an almost square gold plaque, pierced with floral openwork decoration and additionally adorned with ribs, sits a perforated pearl. On the underside, a separately worked terminal element, extending laterally into volutes, is soldered on. The junction between these two parts is embellished on each side with five granulated gold beads. Finally, three pendants are mounted on three eyelets, which also hold pearls at the bottom. On the back, crossed struts provide stability to the delicate filigree work construction. Fitted with modern hooks for immediate wear. Exhibited at the Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins (MACM) in France from June 2011 to August 2023.
