Description: Apulian kothon in red-figure style with details in yellow and white with a belonging lid, with a woman’s portrait (“Lady of Fashion”) to the left on its body. The woman wears a stephane and a kekryphalos, the hairnet, which covers the strands that are pulled back to a bun. A curly hair lock cascades over the temple. She wears a large round earring and a necklace. Behind her a large round mirror. The rest of the jug is painted with large palmettes, on the neck encircling ivy leaves. The two-part, black painted handle with a deep mid ridge starts on the spout and reaches to the shoulder. On the lid with a high knob is another woman’s portrait to the left. This “Lady of fashion” also wears a stephane, kekryphalos and large round earrings. A beautiful, rarely complete vessel in a good condition. From the workshop of the Kantharos Group.
