Description: Large, high-quality and abundantly painted wood canopic lid with a human face, which embodies the son of Horus Imsesty. Face, ears and neck in red as the significant skin colour for men. The eyes with large black pupils on a white base, above finely drawn black brows. The gaze of the masterly worked out head is slightly upwards. The mouth with broad lips lends a friendly expression to the face. Imsety wears a wig of strands pulled into the forehead with black stripes on dark yellow base and a usekh of the same colour. The ears sculpturally protrude from the wig. In the bottom part of the lid a ring for affixing into the canopic jar. Imsety, together with his three brothers Qebehsenuef, Hapy and Duamutef, guard over the intestines of the embalmed deceased. He was responsible for the liver. On the bottom the collection number E. 24. Rare in this quality and size. On an old wood base.
