Description: Magnificent terracotta statuette from a workshop in Tanagra depicting a youthful boy with a disc-shaped sun hat seated on a pedestal. The young man melancholically gazes into the distance. He slightly bows his head, his childlike cheeks reveal his young age. He seems thoughtful, questioning himself where life might lead him. The long wavy hair covers his ears and cascades in the back to his nape. His garb implies his high social ranking. The himation is tied on the right shoulder. The young man drapes the long cape over his right upper thigh. He supports himself on the pedestal with the left hand. Pointy shoes are on his hanging feet. With white engobe and red and rose traces of colour. The statuette stands on a rectangular pedestal. Accompanied by a TL test of 18 October 2024 confirming the age of the figure.
