Condition: Legs reattached without missing parts. Tip of the right wing reattached, otherwise wonderfully preserved.
Description: Large terracotta statue of the flying Eros, who holds a folding mirror in his right hand. Here Aphrodite’s companion is depicted as a young man who holds the mirror up to the goddess of beauty. His wings, which end in volutes, are spread out for landing. Eros wears a himation, which he wraps around the head as a veil and which covers his chin. With the right hand he pulls the cape up so that it does not hinder him while landing. The folding mirror with beautiful red traces of colour. See for the depiction of Eros with a folding mirror the statuette in the Louvre with the inventory number Myrina 135. Accompanied by a TL test of 18 October 2024 confirming the age of the figure. Mounted.
