Description: Bronze spearhead from Iranian Luristan with a so-called “rat-tailed buttoned terminal”, through which it was affixed and mounted over a wood pole of the lance. The tapering, double-edged blade with a massive, round middle ridge merges into a round shaft with a raised thread. These fine ribs are rare and are only found in elaborately worked out spear heads. They simulate the cord binding, which was used to mount spear heads on the pile in earlier times. A round disk separates the spear head from the rat-tail shaped handle grip.
