Provenance: From the renowned Vinča collection of Dusan Jovanovic (1956-2015), since 1970 in Austria. Accompanied by a TL test from the University of Vienna of 1 September 2025 confirming the age of the figure.
Condition: An ancient wear on the foot, otherwise intact.
Description: Rare figure of a pregnant woman from the Vinča culture made of reddish brown clay. The elongated head with a long nose and incised, line-shaped eyes. The figure wears a headdress that tapers to a point at the back of the head. The arms protrude on the sides at right angles. The body is cylindrical, the legs are not accentuated. In the centre of the body the navel of the pregnant woman stands out. The entire statuette is decorated with incised lines. Vinča figures such as the present one were used for ritual purposes and possibly served as fertility idols. From the region of Supska-Stublina. Accompanied by a TL test of 1 September 2025 confirming the age of the figure.
