Description: Exceptionally large, single-handled flask of almost completely discoloured glass, which probably served as an ash urn. The massive body is cylindrical and stands on a slightly concave base. The shoulder curves semi-circularly outwards and runs horizontally to the short neck. The large, far protruding spout has an inwards closed rim edge. The broad band handle is separately worked out and is affixed below the rim and on the shoulder. The lower end runs in 14 ribs. This monumental glass flasks were particularly used as urns. See the glass urn in the Allaire Collection with the number AJAM 062, as well as M. C. Calvi “Die roemischen Glaeser. Museum von Aquileia”, plate 14.
