Provenance: From the collection Claus-Eberhard Schultze, acquired in the early 2000 from a German auction house.
Condition: A small corrosion hole and a minimal tear on the rim, otherwise intact.
Description: Large round bronze disc with a relief carved using fine repoussé work, depicting the animal tamer ("Master of Animals") typical in northwest Iranian iconography. The deified human figure with beard and large eyes strides to the left and holds in each hand a springbok on its backside. The animals with bent heads and stretched out legs. Above the scene a bird of prey lying on its back. The relief is framed by an encircling rib. Around the rim a stamped chain decoration. The disk has on the back a tapering extension, where the pin was affixed. See for the type Éric de Waele “Bronzes du Louristan et d’Amlash.
