Provenance: Austrian private collection Prof. Josef Mairitsch (1938-1994). Acquired prior to 1970. Thence in the family estate. With a copy of the collection note (number 28).
Condition: Beads with some wear and traces of weathering. Overall an attractive necklace with interesting, large beads.
Description: Modern threaded necklace with large opaque glass beads in various colors and shapes, produced in the Eastern Mediterranean during the late Roman period. In the centre a particularly large square bead of blue-black glass with an inlayed yellow glass thread. Followed by, amongst others, an elliptical bead of white glass with blue eyes, a mosaic bead of red glass, cuboid-shaped blue glass beads and white faience beads.
