Condition: Beads are mostly beautifully preserved with their polychrome colours. Modernly strung without a clasp.
Description: Necklace with 35 glass beads from Asia Minor and the Black Sea region, which date to the Greek and Roman period. Amongst them eight particularly large mosaic- and eye beads dating to the Roman period. See “Les Verres Antiques du Musée du Louvre”, p. 158. no. 203. In between polychrome Hellenistic eye beads from the eastern Mediterranean Sea in different colours and forms. Finally, the glass beads with dotted decoration are to be dated to the late Roman period. See “Les Verres Antiques du Musée du Louvre”, p. 202. no. 268-271. The finale on top is an Egyptian faïence bead with engraved honeycomb surface. Modern threaded on a nylon cord.
