Description: Important bone fragment with engraved animal heads from the cave Les Eyzies (“Abri Richard”) in the Département Dordogne in southern France. The outward curved bone depicts the head of a hunting wolverine to the left. The vigilant eyes are big, the ears raised. See for the depiction of a wolverine on a bone fragment in the British Museum, which also originates from Les Eyzies with the registration number Palart. 102. In the lower part of the bone a bird with a long pointy beak also to the left is depicted. The fragment dates to the Magdalenian, at the end of the Ice Age. Accompanied by a sketch.
