Provenance: Collection Axel Guttmann (1944-2001) with the inventory number AG 641. Acquired in Krefeld/German in 1990. Thence Hermann Historica Auction Munich on 11 April 2011, lot 355. There acquired by the French private collection Gilles Grimm.
Condition: The head of one clasp hook missing, the belt stabilized with glass fabric, otherwise intact and complete.
Description: Broad belt with encircling lining perforations, on one end two clasp hooks in form of long elongated animal heads, the riveted attachment plates in form of palmettes, abundantly decorated in cold work. On the other side four holes for fastening, strengthened with riveted, finely curved bronze sheets, also decorated in cold work, possibly depicting stylized animals. With the old collection label of the collection Guttmann on the inside.
