Description: Fantastic portrait! Obverse: Head of Augustus right. Reverse: IMP-CAESAR, herm above winged lightning bolts. Consciously set banker’s mark, lateral of the head on the obverse. RIC 269a, C 114, BMC 628. Octavianus, Julius Caesar’s nephew and adopted son, arising as the sole winner from the civil wars, became founder of a new Roman state form, the Principate. The Roman Senate honoured him with the title Augustus – "the illustrious one".
