Description: The surface of the stone with a brownish-grey coating, Silenus with long hair and moustache and a full beard, from a large vessel with a convex exterior, inscribed with a inventory note 'No 3216 Babylonia'. A group of seven similar examples are said to originate from Iran, from Dinawar or Kermanshah. Two are from The Ernest Brummer Collection; two others are in the Walters Art Museum (accession nos. 21.1-2), Baltimore; another in Ascona; and two others in the museum in Teheran.
