Provenance: From a private collection from an English fashion designer, who acquired the skyphos in the 1980s.
Condition: Apart from slight color flaking on one handle and on the rim of the back side, intact and of good quality.
Description: Finely worked out black figure skyphos which can probably be attributed to the Little Masters Group. The drinking vessel on a slightly offset ring foot. The handle, as well as the rim and the interior of the cup are black-glazed. On both sides of the body a seated bearded Dionysus holding a rhyton in front of him. Garlands lead away to palmettes on both sides of the figure. The lower image area framed by a black band.
