Description: Wonderfully preserved terracotta statuette from Tanagra depicting a mother with a child. The mother stands with her weight on the left leg and has the right one put far outwards. Both toes peeking from the floor-length chiton with its diligently worked out pleats. She has a cloak (himation) thrown over, which she also pulled over her head. In her left arm sits, also covered in the himation, a small child. The mother holds the cloak from inside with both hands under her chest. The faces of the mother and child radiate harmony and contentment, both hinting a smile. The child slightly tilts his head to the right as if snuggling to the mother. On the back an old collection label with the number 92. With a TL test of 23 October 2021 confirming the age of the statuette.
