Provenance: Collection General-Surgeon Dr. Josef Mayer-Riefenthaler, Vienna. Acquired in Cyprus in the 1960s, during his deployment as UN soldier.
Condition: A small chip on the base, the colors slightly faded, but completely intact.
Description: Very large tankard with red-brown and dark brown linear painting. Above the deep lying ring-shaped corpus is a long cylindrical neck. The long handle reaches from the shoulder to the rim and also has decoration. Ring-shaped base. For reference regarding the rare form a similar example is in the British Museum (registration number: 1897,0401.1144) which was found in Enkomi in east Cyprus.
