Description: Large fragment of a clay brick with a handwritten, almost completely preserved cuneiform text. The brick originates from the temple of Ningishzida in Girsu, which Gudea, today probably the most well-known ruling personality from Mesopotamia, erected. The translated inscription in ten lines reads: For Ningishzida, his God, Gudea, ruler of Lagas, the constructor of the temple of Ninugirsus E-ninnu, erected this temple in Girsu.
